Having just returned from a holiday to marrakech the best advise I can give you is not to hire a car in morocco. The rules for driving in morocco are non-exist and those that do exist are ignored. Ideally if you are travelling to town most hotels will provide a shuttle bus service. Once in town it is best to leave the local bus service to the locals. If you need to get a taxi then there are two types to look out for, the main taxis are usually saloon cars (mostly mercedes) they will take you anywhere you want to travel. It is important to note the price they give you is for 5 persons to share. This means you can wait in the taxi for other people to join you for your destination and split the cost. The other type of taxi is known as a "petit taxi" these are normally hatchback cars and will take you anywhere within the town boarders.

With either types of taxis in morocco it is important to agree the fee before you embark.  For the citizens of Morocco haggling is a way of life so don't accept the taxis first offer, you will probably look to knock 50% off their original quote.

There are also horse and donkeyand horse drawn karts within the towns, these are really only used by tourists. The ones that I viewed were so badly whipped that I would not promote such a service.

Another point to note is that if you knock over and kill an Arab man then you face an automatic 25 years in prison
